I found them several days ago, on the floor of the enclosure. Their bodies were in a weird shape (kind of tapered at each end). And if you poked them, they would squirm around in a manner the others don’t. I didn’t think much of it. I assumed that this just must be what they do before pupating.

Days went by and nothing happened. Normally I don’t see the stages between normal adult and mostly-finished cocoon. It happens overnight. After days in this state, I found them black and limp on the floor. I assumed they died and took them out of the enclosure but did not discard them, just in case. Sure enough, they pupated without cocoons. It will be interesting to see if they are different from the others as adults.
